Established in November 2020, the College of General Aviation and Flight at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) traces its academic roots to the Flight College founded in 2002, which pioneered the Flight Technology undergraduate program, making it one of the earliest "211 Project" universities to offer this program.
The college comprises three departments: Flight Technology, Safety Engineering, and General Aviation, offering undergraduate programs in Flight Technology, Transportation (Civil Aviation Maintenance Engineering and Civil Aviation Maintenance Engineering), and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Engineering. These disciplines form the foundation for an integrated academic system spanning bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs.
Over two decades of development, its Flight Technology program has achieved multiple distinctions, including:
- Selected for the Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program of Ministry of Education;
- Recognized as a Jiangsu Provincial Distinguished Program;
- Recognized as a National Pilot Program for Educational Reform;
- Recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program.
The college has established the Jiangsu Provincial Experimental Teaching and Practical Education Center. It boasts the Foreign Pilot School Certification (in partnership with AVIC International Flight Training Academy) and the Airline Transport Pilot License Theoretical Training Certification.
Leveraging its first-level discipline in Transportation Engineering, the college focuses on general aviation and flight technology, with focuses on flight safety and human factors engineering, general aviation traffic and safety, aircraft fault diagnosis and airworthiness.
It is currently building research centers such as the Pilot Health Monitoring and Human Factors Engineering Research Center, the Smart General Aviation Transportation and Safety Research Center, the Aircraft System Analysis and Fault Diagnosis Research Center, and the General Aviation Digital Testing and Airworthiness Certification Center.
