Tracing its roots back to 1960, the School of Mathematics consists of four academic units: the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Computational Science, the Department of Probability and Statistics, and the Center for University Mathematics Teaching and Research. It offers two undergraduate programs: Information and Computational Science, and Applied Statistics.
The school ranks among the top 0.4 percent globally in the ESI rankings and holds the 38th spot in China's best disciplines ranked by ShanghaiRanking.
The school has been strengthening international collaboration and academic exchange. Over the past decade, it has organized more than 60 major academic conferences, hosted over 700 academic talks by Chinese and international experts, and participated in more than 500 international academic conferences.
The school is also actively building global partnerships. It maintains a close strategic relationship with Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, has signed cooperation agreements with Brunel University London, and has developed joint education programs with the University of California, Riverside, Loughborough University, and the National University of Singapore.
It has also recruited nearly 10 international scholars, including full-time, part-time, and visiting professors, as well as postdoctoral researchers—among them, an academician of the Singapore National Academy of Science. Additionally, it offers one to two international summer programs annually.
