Established in 1993, the College of Civil Aviation comprises four departments: air traffic management, transportation, civil aviation engineering, and civil & airport engineering. It offers undergraduate programs in transportation, civil engineering, aircraft airworthiness technology, and intelligent construction.
In 2024, the discipline of transportation engineering ranked 30th globally in the ShanghaiRanking's global ranking of academic subjects.
The college has built 21 national and provincial-level research centers, including the National Key Laboratory for Air Traffic Management Systems, the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) Key Laboratory for Civil Aircraft Health Monitoring and Intelligent Maintenance, the CAAC Key Laboratory for Civil Aviation Emergency Science and Technology, the CAAC Engineering Research Center for Airworthiness of Civil Aircraft Onboard Systems, and the Jiangsu Research Center for Airport Infrastructure Safety Engineering.
The college maintains long-term partnerships with renowned global institutions such as Imperial College London, the University of California, Berkeley, the French National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC), Ghent University in Belgium, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Since 2012, it has jointly offered an undergraduate program in airport operation and management with overseas universities. In 2023, it launched an international academic journal called Aerospace Transportation and Safety.
The college currently has 125 full-time faculty members and 2,160 students, including 1,361 undergraduates, 678 master's students, and 121 doctoral candidates.
