Established in 1985, the College of Materials Science and Technology comprises four departments: materials processing engineering, materials science, applied chemistry, and nuclear science and technology.
It offers five undergraduate programs, including materials science and engineering, new energy materials and devices, applied chemistry, nuclear engineering and technology, and radiation protection and nuclear safety.
The college is recognized globally for its academic excellence, with its disciplines in materials science and chemistry ranking among the top 1 percent in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) rankings.
The faculty includes 134 full-time members, of whom 46 are professors and 60 are associate professors. More than half of the faculty have overseas experience.
Over the past decade, the college has undertaken more than 310 national-level research projects, published over 4,000 high-impact academic papers and secured more than 700 authorized invention patents.
Committed to global collaboration, the college has established strategic partnerships with leading research institutions such as the University of Pavia and the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy, Cardiff University in the UK, the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, and the Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
The college is currently home to over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
