LMS
Updated: May 08, 2025

The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) originates from the Aeronautical Machinery Processing and Aircraft Manufacturing programs that were established when NUAA was founded in 1952.

The college offers the first-level discipline of Mechanical Engineering, along with four second-level doctoral programs: Mechanical Design and Theory, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Mechatronic Engineering, and Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering. It also maintains an accredited Doctor of Engineering program in Mechanical Engineering and has a postdoctoral research station dedicated to Mechanical Engineering.

The college has established a "one core with two wings" strength, centering on advanced manufacturing processes, supported by high-end equipment and intelligent design and manufacturing.

Its six main research areas include: precision manufacturing using special energy fields, high-efficiency precision machining, advanced mechanical transmission systems, composite structure forming manufacturing, digital assembly technology and equipment, and intelligent manufacturing systems and robotics. The college has set up 14 national-level teaching and research platforms, along with 22 platforms at the provincial and ministerial levels.

It provides five undergraduate programs: Mechanical Engineering, Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Robotics Engineering, and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering.

The college currently has 247 full-time faculty members, including 93 professors and 104 associate professors and senior engineers. Among them are an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The institution now enrolls over 1,800 undergraduate students and more than 2,100 master's and doctoral students.

The college has built partnerships in scientific research and talent development with numerous renowned universities and research institutes across countries such as Germany, Britain, Canada, Russia, and Belgium. It also hosts NUAA's first Ministry of Education International Joint Laboratory.
