The College of Energy and Power Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) traces its roots back to 1952 and was formally established as a college in November 2000.
The college currently boasts six undergraduate programs:
Aerospace Propulsion Theory and Engineering (National Key Discipline, Jiangsu Provincial Advantageous Discipline)
Engineering Thermophysics (Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline)
Thermal Energy Engineering (Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline)
Power Machinery and Engineering (Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline)
Fluid Machinery and Engineering (Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline)
Automobile Engineering (Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline)
The college has established a high-level faculty team of 155 full-time teachers, including 56 professors, 72 associate professors, and 57 doctoral supervisors. Among them are 23 national-level talents, including academicians and candidates for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The school has also established multiple national and provincial-level research teams, contributing to China's scientific innovation and advancements.
The college is pioneering pedagogical reforms, adopting heuristic, inquiry-based, discussion-driven, participatory, and smart teaching methodologies. By upgrading core curricula and independently developing design-oriented courses, it is continually enhancing the cutting-edge relevance and intellectual rigor of its programs. Emphasis is placed on cultivating students' comprehensive abilities to address complex systems engineering challenges. For over a decade, the college has collaborated with institutions in Russia and Ukraine on advanced practical training in aero-engine technologies, while strengthening partnerships with universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, and other countries to explore international education models, broadening students' global perspectives.
The college is refining its disciplinary structure and deepening reforms in postgraduate training mechanisms to cultivate top-tier innovative talent with institutional distinctiveness. By integrating scientific research, industry collaboration, and education, the college promotes categorized cultivation and evaluation of postgraduate students, establishing a robust professional degree training system.
The college is also advancing its internationalization strategy, building a global network of high-level talent to drive high-quality development. In recent years, it has appointed internationally renowned scholars as honorary professors and visiting professors. The college has also hosted a series of premier international conferences on advanced topics such as thermal and fluid dynamics, structural dynamics, and advanced material mechanics, injecting new momentum into its global integration and high-quality growth.
