Located on the campus of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, the Nanjing Aviation and Aerospace Museum opened to the public in 1992. As a comprehensive science and technology museum, it is involved in teaching, research, and public science education.
The museum spans approximately 2,700 square meters and boasts a diverse collection of aviation and aerospace exhibits. Visitors can explore more than a dozen aircraft, helicopters, and rockets, alongside around 20 different types of engines and hundreds of aviation components. A full set of aerospace-themed image exhibitions also provides a rich visual introduction to the field.
The museum welcomes thousands of visitors annually — particularly school groups, government delegations, and partner institutions — free of charge. To enhance the visitor experience, NUAA students with a strong interest in aerospace serve as volunteer docents.
In addition to on-site tours, the museum regularly organizes a variety of science outreach programs, including:
1. Online and offline lectures on the development of aviation and aerospace;
2. Live broadcast events in collaboration with media outlets such as China Central Television and Jiangsu TV;
3. Model aircraft workshops and training camps;
4. Support for national aviation model festivals and open laboratory events coordinated with the university's science association.
