The Key Laboratory of Aerospace Information Materials and Physics MIIT was established to meet the demand for the development of the aerospace sector and the construction of an innovative nation. In alignment with the development of international aerospace science and technology disciplines and cutting-edge technologies, as well as the development needs of national defense and aviation, aerospace, and maritime, the laboratory focuses on research at the forefront of aerospace information materials and physics. It has gradually established three research directions: next-generation information material design, intelligent sensing materials and physics, and optoelectronic information materials and devices.
Professor Shi Daning serves as the laboratory director, and professors Liu Youwen, Kan Caixia, and Yang Hao are the deputy directors. The laboratory has 58 researchers, including one leading talent of the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, one recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, one member of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials, three national-level young talents, and 14 provincial and ministerial-level talents.
Over the past three years, the laboratory has undertaken 66 new national and provincial research projects, with a total research funding of 33.49 million yuan ($4.6 million) received.
The laboratory's researchers have published 253 SCI papers, obtained 23 authorized patents, and received three provincial and ministerial-level awards. Several achievements have been validated on new aircraft models such as the C919, Y-20, and J-20.
