In 2019, under the guidance of Academician Ye Peijian of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the College of Astronautics at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics established the Key Laboratory of Space Photoelectric Detection and Perception, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, based on disciplines such as Optical Engineering, Aerospace Science and Technology, and Control Science and Engineering.
The laboratory focuses on research about wide-area super-resolution sensing and computing integrated technology, asterism detection and information processing technology, and adversarial attack and defense simulation technology, supporting the exploration, research, and development in cutting-edge electro-optical detection theories, new electro-optical detection systems, and advanced electro-optical detection systems in the aviation and aerospace fields.
The laboratory boasts a team of over 40 researchers, having published 185 high-level academic papers and secured 39 authorized invention patents in recent years. It has been honored with over 10 various scientific and technological awards, including the First Prize, Second Prize, and Third Prize of the National Defense Science and Technology Progress Awards.
Additionally, the laboratory has engaged in more than 70 national and provincial projects, including national "973"/"863" aerospace research programs and the National Natural Science Foundation, providing strong support for the development and application of multiple major national engineering models such as the "Gaofen", "Remote Sensing", and "Experimental" series.
In 2024, the laboratory collaborated with the China Academy of Space Technology to achieve an integrated development of "technology innovation, industry innovation, and application innovation".
