Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, or NUAA, is a leading Chinese higher education institution known for its excellence in engineering sciences, including aeronautics, astronautics, and mechanical engineering, as well as economics and management. Established in 1952, NUAA was among the first batch of national universities entitled to award doctoral degrees.
NUAA has the Nanjing Minggugong Campus, Jiangjunlu Campus, Yangzijiang Campus, Changzhou Tianmuhu Campus, as well as an International Innovation Port. Its total land area covers 3,404 mu (about 226.93 hectares), with a building area of over 2.24 million square meters. Its libraries house over 3.22 million printed documents, 177 Chinese and foreign language databases, and over 14.11 million volumes of digital literature and information resources.
NUAA currently boasts 23 colleges and 231 research institutions. It has established 12 national-level key laboratories, three national-level innovation centers, one provincial-ministerial co-constructed collaborative innovation center, one national-local joint engineering research center, two national engineering education bases for fundamental courses, one national talent cultivation base for top students in basic disciplines, and four national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers.
Since its establishment, NUAA has cultivated over 200,000 senior professionals of various types. Among its alumni, 25 are now academicians of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. It has also fostered many renowned experts in scientific, technological, and management sectors.
NUAA has been recognized with 26 national-level teaching achievement awards; 48 national first-class undergraduate courses, 11 national excellent shared courses, six national excellent video open courses, six national outstanding teaching teams, 37 national first-class undergraduate program construction points, six national characteristic programs, and eight key programs identified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
It has also won 1,849 scientific and technological achievement awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including 84 at the national level.
NUAA adheres to the "Open University" strategy, with internationalization being a key component of its curriculum, research, campus culture, and collaborative efforts. Over the years, it has established a number of research bases for industry, academia, and research collaboration. In addition, it has established stable cooperative relationships with more than 300 renowned universities and research institutions worldwide.
