The Laboratory of Digital Music at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) is an important practical platform for the NUAA's arts-engineering integration strategy.
Relying on disciplines such as aeronautics, astronautics, computer science, and automation, the laboratory focuses on the digital transformation of music to promote the deep interdisciplinary integration of arts and technology. It aims to achieve digital innovation in music creation, performance, and research.
The laboratory has three main research focuses:
Digital music creation and production and the application of digital audio technology in fields such as electronic music;
Music therapy and brain-machine integration, developing projects like the Aesthetic Education Capsule to promote clinical applications;
Evaluation methods for singing voice production, developing a scientific evaluation system to serve the teaching of vocal music.
As of 2025, the laboratory had achieved fruitful results. In 2024, it collaborated with the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to establish a joint laboratory for the intelligent evaluation of singing voice production. It has conducted collaborative research with institutions such as Seoul Women's University to promote international exchange.
The laboratory also has broad social application value. For example, its singing voice production evaluation system enhances the efficiency of teaching and training; it provides cultural products for schools and society; and its research results offer technical support to industries such as music education, production, and dissemination.
