Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics recently hosted a high-level forum on future technological innovation and top-tier talent cultivation, alongside the unveiling of its new Future Technology College.
Representatives from leading enterprises like the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, as well as peer institutions such as Southeast University, gathered to discuss emerging technologies and map out new approaches to nurturing innovative talent.
Jiang Bin, president of NUAA, said the new college will focus on future aerospace equipment, promoting interdisciplinary integration, deeper collaboration between industry, academia and research, and expanded international partnerships. Through innovative educational models and evaluation systems, the college aims to cultivate high-level professionals with forward-looking vision and outstanding creative capabilities.
To foster an open and collaborative talent development ecosystem, the university partnered with industry leaders and future technology colleges at other universities to launch the Future Technology College Education Alliance. The initiative seeks to connect the entire chain of industry, academia, research and application.
The forum's second session focused on cutting-edge science and original innovation. Academician Guo Wanlin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences highlighted major opportunities and challenges in aerospace, intelligent technology and space exploration. He also outlined China's research breakthroughs in advanced aerospace structures, nano-intelligent materials and new energy fields, underscoring the importance of original innovation.
