Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics achieved outstanding results at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions, which recently concluded in Geneva, Switzerland.
The university presented 10 projects at the exhibition and won two Gold Medals With the Congratulations of the Jury and eight Gold Medals.
The two projects awarded the former accolade were an intelligent drone-based inspection system for large vessels, and a multi-sensory synchronized detection and analysis system for aircraft cockpits.
Compared with traditional manual close-up inspections, the drone-based ship inspection system reduces inspection costs by 70 percent and cuts inspection time by 90 percent.
The system is currently the world's only product of its kind certified by classification societies from seven countries, including China and the United States. It has already been applied in more than 300 vessels as well as in sectors such as power plants and the chemical industry.
Founded in 1973, the International Exhibition of Inventions is one of the world's largest and longest-running events dedicated to inventions and technological innovation. This year's exhibition featured projects from various industries and fields across 35 countries and regions.
