China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced a preliminary list of platforms selected for a national program supporting the development of pilot-scale testing and industrial application capabilities.
In the field of aviation equipment, only four platforms were chosen, including the Advanced Offensive and Defensive Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Platform led by the UAV Research Institute of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
The platform focuses on engineering verification and rapid commercialization of advanced offensive and defensive UAV technologies, accelerating the transition from laboratory research to industrial production.
NUAA is one of the earliest universities in China to conduct UAV research. The university began related research in 1958 and has since developed a range of unmanned aircraft, including nuclear test sampling aircraft, reconnaissance drones, and helicopters.
The selection highlights NUAA's strong capabilities in aviation innovation and its continued contribution to the development and industrialization of next-generation UAV technologies.
