Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics held its undergraduate opening ceremony for the Class of 2026 on Sept 4 at both the Jiangjunlu and Tianmuhu campuses, welcoming a new group of students eager to embark on their university journey.
As they joined the university, the incoming students donned their NUAA badges, symbolizing the beginning of this new chapter in their lives.
Academician Ben De, a distinguished radar scientist, shared valuable insights from over sixty years of research with the new students. He encouraged them to remain focused, commit to hard work, and build a solid foundation through consistent effort. He stressed that there are no shortcuts in scientific research and urged students to master their coursework, conduct experiments meticulously, and approach each step with patience and discipline.
In addition, he encouraged students to embrace challenges, keep their sights set on advances in global science and technology, and pursue research that addresses the country's real-world needs.
As a special gift to the Class of 2026, Ben presented a model of a J-10 fighter jet, featuring a fire-control radar system he developed.
