Grey Systems: Theory and Application, an international academic journal founded under the leadership of a professor from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, has been included in the 2025 list of world-class scientific journals, according to a recently released report by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China and partner research institutions.
The journal was initiated by Liu Sifeng, the founding director of NUAA's Institute for Grey Systems Studies. After joining NUAA in 2000, Liu submitted a proposal to UK-based Emerald Publishing Group in 2010 to establish the journal, which received full financial support from the publisher.
Launched in 2011, the quarterly publication focuses on the interdisciplinary applications of grey systems theory across natural and social sciences, as well as engineering and technology. It places particular emphasis on translating theoretical research into practical applications.
Over 16 volumes, the journal has published approximately 610 academic papers. It ranks 10th among 137 journals in the category of Mathematics, Interdisciplinary Applications, reflecting its growing international academic influence.
